HOW LONG HAVE YOU HAD YOUR TURBO?
I'm going F/I in the near future, but I'm not sure what the lifespan of a turboed honda motor is. I wanted to take a little survey of how long you guys have had your turbos (miles/years) and how reliable they have been. I've only met guys who've had their kits for no more than a year. And this one guy told me that it will last about 3 yrs.
Your thoughts....
Your thoughts....
two years no problems....then Kabloome! (my fault - heavy right foot)
Changed the motor went turbo again for 1 year....
Then manifold cracked and intercooler was too small but I had an old turbo system actually the first one - 'Drag 1' since then I changed everything except BOV.
Now been turbo a few months.
IMO you can have turbo on a GSR or (any car for that matter) for as long as you own your car if you treat it right and maintain it.

old school like a mo fo!
It came with t3/t4 hybrid, a side mount intercooler, a turbo manifold that cracked like 4 times on me!
It came with an HKS wastegate and an HKS BOV. A 12:1 FMU with no name!
A bosch inline fuel pump.
No air filter.
I think that is it.

About 2 months on my 115K mile LS motor.....then knock knock knock knock as a rod started to bang around in my block.
Rebuild should be done this week.....18-20psi here I come!!

Turbo has been on my car for about 2.5 yrs and 33k miles with no major problems. Some minor problems are a cracked manifold and overheating with the a/c on in 95+ degree weather.
Looks like that manifold will do a better job holding down boost creep then the current Drag 3 design.....the WG actually vents 2 of the 4 cylinders. Mine only vents one....no wonder why creep is a problem with 3" DP and exhuast.

3 months and 4500 miles.. no problems so far..
I think longevity of the motor is gonna depend on the wieght of your right foot.. but if u take care of it, i think 3years without a rebuild is definitly possible.. most people build their block before then though..

Damn! Now you guys have got me worried. Assuming that I do the install correctly, get the car dyno tuned after installation, don't boost over 7 lbs and do all necessary maintainance, will my motor last for a few years? I've got 25K miles and I need this motor to last me for a few more years... can I pull it off?
As long as the tuning and install is good, it should last without any major problems. Just don't go crazy with the boost and floor it at every light...
I've had my turbo for 2 years.... and 2000 miles
My B16a was doomed to fail to begin with. Not my foot's fault. I spent lots of money and rebuilt it right, and a year after it died, it's back running again....
It's had little problems, but nothing MAJOR since the engine died dec 2000.

since turboed,i got 4 yrs about 35,000 miles on 1995 D16Z i got from junkyard that they said had 60,000 on it...running a drag gen 2,no problems with turbo kit or motor except for oil pump seal blowing out like 10,000 miles ago, that was minor and easy fix.
