knocking noise?
okay i have a b18a1 and i just sleeved and bored out the block. ..the company (un=named) sold me the wrong internals...they sold me rods, pistons etc for a gsr motor. i am still using the LS crank. there is a knocking noise when i start the motor. a so called mechanic said that the crank bearing has broke...comments? suggestions?

yup yup....the knock is more than likely due to the piston to vavle contact since you are still using the gsr crank

Pistons are interchangable. What's ******* him up is using the longer GSR rods on the larger stroke LS crank.

if the motor is runing and you can still hear the knocking than it could b the bearing. but like the pros say it problobly is the valves, but if it waz the valves then your motor would run like ****

Not necessarily. It depends upon exactly how much contact is being made. I highly recommend pulling the head off of the motor as soon as possible.

i started the car and it runs but i never actually put in gear and rolled. i mean the motor idles but it has a boggin personality, maybe cause it was just rebuilt? like i said a mechanic told me that it sounds like the crank bearing is messed up. the question i got is: with a LS block with GSR internals, can i still run the LS crank?
you can with special rods...or pistons, the b18c1, b18cR, and the b18a/b all have the same deck height. your situation is the rods you have are meant for a shorter stoke crank and your running a crank thats meant for shorter rods. so no you cant

It's doubtful. You also have to consider the fact that the motor is now running rediculously high compression, and you have to take into account any damage that's already been done just by starting it up.
