We put some ground controls on a 97 ls with gr2 shocks. But now there is this thumping sound coming from the front right wheel(not from the other ones) when the car hits a pothole. You guys have any idea what it could be?

 

is bump stops cut?

 

yeah, the bumpstops were cut. Anybody else?

 

that would be your upper A arms or something hitting the shock tower...i dont know what they are called but they are hitting your shock tower...

look under the hood at your shock tower and it might be starting to dent...mine are

make sure the top hats are tightened down

 

top hats are tightend down and the upper A arms arent hitting anything.

 

are the shocks blown?

 

We put brand new shocks on with the GC's, all that maybe 3 weeks ago. And the car is only lowered about an inch. Besides it doesnt bounce up and down when i push down on it and let go. So i doubt the shocks are blown.

 

check the shock shaft nut that holds the top hat onto the shock. if its loose it will cause a thumping or popping noise like you describe.d
