Basially you have to be moving at the same speed that the other car is travelling in order to pull this off. Then you have to set the shutter speed to a slow setting 2" should do it. Also don't forget to hold it steady. Anything slower then 1/30 and the camera is very sensitive to shake

what you said here doesnt make any sense. you said don't set it slower than 1/30, but right before that you said to set it at 2". there is no way he will be able to pull off a successful rolling shot at 2".
i don't do many panning shots, so i wont comment on them, plus i dont know if your camera has a burst feature or not. as for rolling shots, they are my favorite. set your camera to tv mode, or sp (shutter speed priority) so that you can choose your shutter speed, but the camera will adjust everything else for you, it's much much easier that way. go the same speed as the car you are shooting, if you are doing under 45 mph use a shutter speed of about 1/40, and if i'm going over 45 i use 1/60. that's somewhat general, but you can adjust and use them how you like.

wow, no one mentioned ISO- higher iso settings allow a faster shutter speed. You'll get the blur effect more if you lower it. Dont go crazy with it, or you'll pick up a lot of noise.
