blancer oil seal popping out recall question.
recall is over but I am thinking that if your seal is already there, they most likely just install the retainer clip. I am not sure though

If the seal had popped out they should have replaced it. Otherwise just a retainer would be installed.

i am a honda tech. i have worked for honda for five years now... just letting you know, so that you will have no doubt in my ability to give you the right answer. if your balance shaft seal has made it this far without popping out, you'll only need to install the retaining clip. this means that you have one of the few good seals that were made that year.
how many miles do you have on your car??? was timing belt done on car?? if you are close on doing a t-belt install new seal and retainer at same time ...
i'm diying a Timing Belt job right now and I see that I already have a seal retainer. Because there's a retainer already installed, i assume that the dealer did installed the retainer so i'm wondering if they did the balancer oil seal too.
not unless seal was leaking at the time ,,,, you can install those retainer without removing t-belt cover and if there was no oil leak i am sure that is what they did ,,but since you got it all apart i would play it safe and put a new seal anyways they only cost aroung 6 dollars and you will have peace of mind
