97' Honda Accord, what is your first.
Hi, I am new to this forum. I just want to know what do people think the first thing I should do to this 97 honda, for speed/style etc. What is the first "parts" you would upgrade and buy. This is a clean honda W/ no modifications done to it, with about 35K mileage on it.
Please Help me out!!!
I am planning to start a new project based on these posts.

first mod i made was an AEM cold air intake....
id STRONGLY suggest your first mod be suspension, and if you have steel wheels, definantly get some new wheels and good tires as well

I'm probably older than a lot of guys on this forum. My preference is to leave it stock. If you poke around the forum for a while you'll find that some of the more savvy guys have the opinion that horsepower gains are hard to achieve without spending major bucks for things like turbo charging. Yep. Big bucks.
Being an old guy, I think about stuff like resale value. Also stock appearance doesn't get the attention of the cops as much as a modded car. Blasting around is still fun for me, too. I also got really tired of wrenching on my old Jeep Cherokee and want to enjoy my 97 (with 5 speed) without a bunch of unneccesary knuckle busting. I would, however, like to have a little more exhaust sound. Just a bit more "throaty", not obnoxious.
Hey if you've got the cash and the "hots" to modify, it's your deal....

Tokico HP suspension, K&N Drop-In Filter, Apex world sport exhaust or something similar. That would make it much more fun as a daily driver.

leave it stock for now, learn and get to know your car before you do anything(not what the Internet guy tell you to)
1)HPDE-high performance driving event
2)autocross
3)high performance driving training(seat time with a instructor)
in other word, a better driver will always be faster if you get what i am saying.
you'll be surprise how many stock car(or close to stock car) you see at your local event
intake, bolt on, coilovers, etc wouldn't get you ahead if the other guy is a better driver than you.

Exhaust, good tires, suspension. I didn't go with Suspension as I don't want to lower it and it does ok with the stock one. Maybe some better headlight bulbs or HID's for style.
For exhaust I'm not a huge fan of the Apexi World Sport 2 and could never find a WSI left when I tried to buy one I tried for a while so finally went with another exhaust and am glad I did. Not as quiet but looks a whole lot better and sounds good too. I say go with the Invidia/Skunk 2 N1 Style although it is loud if you don't want that. Even with the silencer it is kind of loud but not too bad then. Very loud without it I mean others that ride in the car with me have said it gives them a headache and after a while with all the windows down it will start hurting your ears a little but sounds good and if you don't want loud it has the silencer. It isn't as loud as some ricer raspy exhausts I have heard but it is pretty damn loud.
The Apexi N1 with custom piping is also a good exhaust and almost the way I went but am glad I got the Invidia cat-back instead.

what is the reason for the low mileage? i bought mine with low mileage because an older couple were the previous owners. my car is bone stock.
imo when a part brakes that is the time to upgrade.

Sounds like my car. I bought a 97 coupe last summer from an old couple with 30k on it. I have kept it pretty much stock other than an overpriced DC intake. In the future I will probably put some new wheels on it (17") and better suspension but for now I am happy with it stock.
If I were gonna modify it though I wouldn't do much with the engine unless I was gonna do a swap becasue with less than 50k on my engine it just doesn't make sense. So yeah unless you wanna drop 3k on a swap I say go for appearance just please don't put an ugly body kit on it.
