Default Fuel Pressure Guage readings differ?

I have a jdm b16 with a s2 throttle body and intake manifold and I recently put an aem high flow fuel rail on. NOW, I have a b&m fuel pressure guage mounted on the rail and set at 40 psi. The car is using excessive amounts of gas and running like poop. My question is, would it matter where the guage was set at for the readings? Would 40 psi on the fuel rail be 40 psi on the fuel filter? Stupid question, but I just wanted to know. Thanks.

is that with or without the vacccum line attached, there is 2 different ranges and you have to check both, with vaccum line on and with it off the regulator

It's 40 psi with the vaccuum line connected and it spikes like usual with it disconnected. I know what the fuel pressure is supposed to be set at. I'm asking if the reading with the vaccuum line connected is the same at the filter as it is at the rail.

i have that same setup but for some reason mine doesnt go below 50psi and nothing changes between vacum on or off. Maybe the B&M gauges are no good, idk.

I can't get the pressure guage to read over 41 psi, isn't that odd?

With the vaccuum line off, that is what your fuel pressure is at WOT
