Ok, I know this is the ITR forum, but its kinda related to my 'problem'

Ok, I have a b20 vtec in my 95 hatch, the head is from a CTR and while removing the MSD ignition to return it to stock, i have run into a problem of finding a distributor cap that fits. What I thought was correct: All b/d series distributor's are basically the same, same cap etc

So I bought a b16 cap from honda, i did not fit my distributor.
I went to autozone (honda was closed) and according to their part numbers, all b series have the same part number, except the ITR cap. That is a different part #. Ive never heard of this before.

Does the EK CTR and DC2 ITR share some weird, different cap that fits no other distributor?

If this is infact true, I guess you learn something new everyday.

Anyone ever buy a GSR cap and have it not fit?

Yes the ITR cap is different from the b16 cap and maybe even different from the GSR cap, but I didn't have one handy to check. I tried to put a cap from a b16 distributor on a ITR distributor and it wouldn't fit. Both were OEM caps by the way

 

B16 caps are smaller than GS-R caps. The ITR/GS-R caps should be the same. My friend's ITR uses the same MSD cap as mine.

Good to know, confirms my discovery last night.

The cap I am picking up tomorrow should do the job
