Questions for the builder of the engine your looking to buy?
Im considering buying a h22a4 that was rebuilt at a honda dealership and by a honda tech, but it was sort of an "after hours" deal for a friend. The engine is still in the corner of the service garage at the dealership, and im going there today to talk to the guy that rebuilt it. So far, the story is: new rings, new bearings (all), new seals (all), and the head was resurfaced and the valves reseated. The crank pully is off at the moment as well as the valve cover, because the timing belt has not yet been installed. Upon visual inspection of the head, the cams have no discoloration or scarring.
What kind of questions would you guys ask concerning the rebuild?

#1. Price?
#2. Since it is at a dealer will they give you any warranty?</TD></TR></TABLE>
-Yes, all the internals are oem honda.
-I have negotiated a price of $500 cash for the longblock and that includes the intake manifold, tb, and exhaust header.
-No warranty. The whole story is the guy that is selling the motor bought it from a totaled 97 lude (non-sh) with 70k on it. Handed it over to his friend who works at the dealership for the rebuild with plans of swapping it into his 93 lude. Kid on the way, no time, etc. etc. is forcing him to give up on the project. His friend rebuilt it sort of under the table and afterhours, in otherwords it never went on the books. It also has never been started since the rebuild. So its like buying it out of someones garage, except this garage has alot of lifts and honda signs all over the place

I just got back from picking it up, im pretty psyched. ill let you guys know how it turns out!
