so i just swapped a d16z6 into my 91 si, running the stock obd1 dizzy, and p28. motor runs, pretty strong, vtec works, all that. it runs rich, and im getting CEL 41- o2 heater.

what effect doest the CEL 41 have on how the motor runs? would the CEL 41 cause my motor to run rich?

also, if i checked the wiring and all seems to be in place, what else could be the problem?

The O2 sensor needs to remain at 600 degrees Fahrenheit to operate properly. The heater is implemented to help it reach that temperature faster and remain there. If the O2 sensor is not at that temperature then your car is in open loop all the time which could definitely cause it to run rich.

Long story short, you need an O2 sensor.

 

once the engine reaches normal operating temperature, should the o2 sensor then work properly? it seems to run rich all the time.

 

For the O2 sensor to operate it must be at a constant 600 degrees. At this temp it should operate correctly. When you check voltage it should be between .4 and .5 volts. If it is at or damn near 0 or 1 the O2 sensor is done.

i also am running the non obd injectors and still have the resistor pack in place. do you think that could be contributing to my fuel problem?

 

try using another o2 sensor first.

 

got a brand new one today.. got my discount cuz i used to work at acura. i'll try it this evening.

 

installed the new o2 sensor and still getting the code... i guess its time to check and re-check my wiring....

 

okay, ive checked and re-checked my wiring.. everything is where it is supposed to be.

i even tried using another ECU. still throwin it.

what does it mean if im STILL throwing ONLY code 41 even when the o2 sensor isnt even connected? i dont get it. shouldnt it also be throwing code 1 if the sensor is completely unplugged?

arrrgh... this is so frustrating. someone please help me.

So did you ever get this one figured out? Because same thing is happening to me too. Except I also get a code 48. Even after replacing my O2 sensor. I'm stumped. Yellow CEL shining in your face is annoying.

ive got cel 41 and cel 3.. and im worried after getting a new map and o2, ill still have the problem..

also running rich (so i believe.. i seem to burn gas like a bitch)... and its also a d16z6

 

Lol, those are the same two codes I had
For the map sensor, for some reason I had two, and I just switched the map sensor plugs and it went away.
Car idles fine too, If you have a code 3 you should be idling at 1500k.
The code 41, i didn't get a new o2 sensor yet, But I still get 30mpg and the car runs good so I really didn't care to bother with it
