DIY EG Radio Block-off plate! (easy! fun! does the job!)
So i wanted to make a block-off plate so i'd have something to cover that area since i dont got a stereo or anything of the sort.
I was looking for some sort of plastic plate to use to fit into the opening..all i had was a DVD case...wasnt sure if i'd fit, but once i placed it up against it...it was practically perfect!
empty slot:
tear the dvd case apart, and you're gonna use the cleaner part of the case (the side without the cd holder)
place the case along the empty slot, and mark where you wanna cut to size (obviously cut a little more than you think, if you are unsure, so you can trim it down.)
i made a mark and cut with a dremel with a cutoff wheel
as you can see, i need to trim a bit. i cut a chunk off with the cutoff wheel, then switched bits to sander bit
one thing you have to do is sand off some plastic on each side of the thing. The dvd case is just a little bit wider than the slot, so if you wanna perfect fit, you gotta sand the sides of the case, where there will be a tab along each side..if that makes any sense.
you can either place the cover with the tabs pointing into the empty slot, or out. i chose pointing them out, so it seems like the blockoff goes in deeper into the slot.

it is rough in the bottom of the cover in that picture..i noticed that after i was driving..so i fliped it around, so the staight edge is on the bottom, and you can't see the rough edge unless you stick your head down and look under. oh well..

looks alright, but you can get the OEM one for $10 why not just buy it? Not hating, just don't understand why someone would do that.
