Corner lights problem
My 93 hatch has a problem where only 1 of the 2 filaments light up and when I turn the turn signal on only that 1 filament blinks. I failed inspection because of this. Since only ''half'' of the bulb is working its very dark and hard to see. I have tried many different bulbs.
yes of course the bulb is good, im not that stupid lol..there is 2 filaments correct, these are 3496 bulbs or whatever same as 1156 and 1157...only the secondary filament for blinking lights up as the parking lights and when i turn the blinker on that single secondary one blinks.. the MAIN filament does not light up AT ALL AT ANY TIME...

well i had that problem with my 4 dr civic but i never could figure it out, try and find some pigtails off of another car and replace them, maybe the socket is bad. the blinker(relay thingy) maybe acting funny aswell but highly doubtful if its still blinking
The problem is one of the relays, from what I understand there is a relay and whenever it is open the light is off, closed the light is on, some cars have two relays one for each filament so they alternate, check a helms manual and see what you have If you only have one relay you should be using a bulb with one filament, which would explain why your light is not bright enough. you are running a bulb designed for a different type of light producing system.
there you go HT no longer stumped.
Also try your hazard lights see how bright they are. Its your flasher relay if they are still dull

you got a short somewhere. the small filiment is suppose to light up(parking light) and the bigger filiment is the signal, which only lights up when you signal. your 'secondary filament is lit and signals... you got to get a helms manual and you can check the wiring with multimeter. the signals are only 3 wires. parking, signal, ground.... unplug the both corner lamps from the bulb socket. check the green/blue wire and green/yellow wires. those are the signal light wires. they should have 12volts when signalling.

ok well im going to work on it today, it sounds like its going to be harder than I thought, only have 15 more days and then i have to pay another $70 for inspection
Ok I went out and looked at it and basically the larger/taller filament is the only one that works, if I turn the parking lights on, it lights up and when I turn the blinker on that one blinks. The smaller filament never lights up at any time. And when I turn on the hazards its the same thing, the larger one just blinks. I have to get batteries for my vom...
Ok well the reason I have the bulb in there that I do is because I had it looked up at a parts place, can somone confirm if im supposed to have one or two filaments?? The socket has two prongs and the bulbs has two.

ok thanks for the response. I think the problem is that the socket went bad some how on both sides, so I ordered 2 new ones. I'll see if this fixes it when they get here.

Make sure the connections aren't corroded, because I know in my Civic, my blinker wouldn't blink sometimes because it was just getting a bad connection on the terminals. Just sand down inside the socket and on the bulb itself a little bit and see what that does.
Ok just to let everyone know, because I actually like to help other people out, that yes it was the actual sockets that went bad, I noticed that if I shook the socket it would rattle. The new sockets would not do this. Problem fixed
