Default Looking for info on D-series parts interchangability

O.K. ,I know not too many people got all excited about the new D17's entry into the civic chassis, but has anyone tried using parts of the older D-series motors on the new engine? Will exhaust and intake flanges match up? I want to turbo my '04 D17 and options are limited on manifolds, on the other hand, D16s have much more choice when it comes to finding parts. Any help will be appreciated.

some people are starting to use d17 cranks and such in there d16's and there is a question in the new HondaTuning and they don't recommend it..
as far as the turbo mani's (d16 to d17), they don't work...

bolt patterns on the exh. side are different. A stock d16y8 intake mani will fit with some work and porting. Only a few people have done this. An aftermarket d16 intake mani will not fit the engine bay.

I was wondering if the cam gear will swap out. I counted the teeth on my d17 and then on a d16z6 and they were both 38 teeth. The only question is the depth of the gear...would it rub the valve cover or anything? I ask cause gears are a lot cheaper and more plentiful for d15/16.
