Buying a 94 Integra soon. Some questions, what to look for, and some advice
I am looking at buying 94 GSR with 128k miles on it. He is selling it for 5500. He says the idle is irregular, but a new IACV would fix this. What is this exactly? Controller on the throttlebody that controls the idle? If this wouldn't fix it what are some other things that would? He says the knock sensor went out. Is this a big deal? He is chipping the ecu next week so it wont throw a code. He has H&R race springs, Tokico Illumina 5 way adjustable shocks/struts and an OEM ITR rear sway bar w/ BSQ mounting kit. Is this a good suspension settup? I don't want it to ride like crap all the time. I am going to test drive it in a couple of weeks as well. It also has rota grids on it as well. He has an autozone dizzy in it right now. Would it be wise to replace it with a honda one? I would replace the water, oil pump, plugs, wires, and timing belt when I got it. Other than the things I stated above, the car is flawless. Any advice on the idle, suspension, and reliablity issues would be greatly appriciated. Thanks.
For the idle, it can be the IACV (Intake Air Control Valve), vacuum lines, or air in the cooling system. Check the vacuum lines and bleed the coolant first before you try changing out the IACV. I'd borrow someone's good one before buying a new one just to make sure.
128k miles is good. You may have to change out the clutch if it already hasn't been replaced since the springs on the OEM disc are known to prematurely pop out.
As for the suspension, you're the one that determines whether or not it's tolerable. If anything, it may be too low. The ITR rear swaybar is a big plus, IMO. I have it on one of my 'tegs and the difference between the two is night and day.
5500 for a 94 is up there in terms of price. But if it's as flawless as you say it is and well maintained, then it's a good deal. I'd get that idle problem fixed first before buying just so it's one less thing to worry about.

I hadn't talked to the guy in a few weeks and sent him an email today. He is not including the rota's anymore, but is including the stock fat five's with new rubber. No idea what fat five's look like. He also dropped it to 5k now.
imo fat fives are great looking wheels. And i would offer this guy less than 4500 and negotiate from there. 5gs is a little too much for a 94 with an idle problem.

Right, definitely would offer him in the 4500 range and negotiate.

Suspension setup is pretty good. It should ride pretty smooth. Replace the distributor cap to correct retarded timing. Overall not a bad purchase, but i think youd be able to find better. Good luck!!
