Installing wheel studs: How hard?
How hard is it to do this? Should I just take it to a shop and get it done? Does anyone have any idea of how much it will run me to get all of my studs changed. Im thinking getting a set of ARP extended studs for my car because i broke 1 stud in the rear and 2 others have the threads pretty much done.
Tried to search but it doesn't work.

I just changed the studs for one wheel on my prelude. I came up with two ways to do it. The right way (where you have to press out the bearings) and the easy way (which I would not do for a car if you are going to race it. The right way I could send you from my shop manual. It is pretty step by step. The easy way is just grinding a little of the lip off the stud so that it will fit past the knuckle. Let me know if I need to explain any more.
could send me the step by step on how to do it the right way Upallnite. Yah i don't want to ruin the baring because i do plan on autocrossing it at somepoint, also don't want the tire coming off. Thanks.

if you just want to replace the rear studs, you dont need a press.
you need a press to do the front.
do NOT hammer the studs in or out with the hub still on the car. it will damage your bearing. just take off the hub FIRST, then you can hammer the studs out all you want...

ok. cool. The back is actually the ones that are bad so that should be easy huh. If i get that tool that is there is a link to on the other post i can use that to take off the hub right? How hard do you think this is for me to do in my drive way. I should have the tools to be able to do...or most of them.
the link shows using a press for the FRONT hubs. you dont need it if you are just doing your rears.
to do the rear hub/stud, you can do it on the driveway. no big deal. no special tools.
unless the inner race is siezed on the spindle. then you need to get a bearing puller. just hope that doesnt happen. because then it gets to be a pain.

ok I will just take it a shop to get the front studs changed out. Ill do that back myself if its easy enough. Thanks for the help.
this is very easy if you have an impact gun and slide hammer, just get the 32mm nut off, then get a slide hammer and attach it to the hub, then use the slide hammer to pull it off, stick the hub in a vise, hammer the studs out, put the new ones it and pull them through with a couple of washers and a wheel nut, use some oil if they are tight.
I'm assuming they are the extended ones, and they wont go in unless you pull the hub off.
Then stick the hub back on and hammer it on just enough to get it started, put the axle through, attach the nut and with a impact gun pull it together.
If the bearing needs replacing then it's a lot more work.
No need for a press in this case, i did my whole car in like 45 min. not even.

good stuff. I will do the back for now since those are the damaged ones. Then I might take the front to get done at a shop so i can change the 11 year old bearings also. Might as well.
I just got my wheel stud replaced by a buddy of mine who happens to be a honda mechanic in about 30 minutes. He used a slide hammer and a knuckle to take apart the hub that is pressed. I checked online for the price of the tool its about $75.00.
hey guy, this is napoleon, you are more retarded than i am, gosh, youre such an idiot. the wheel nut is a 36mm not a 32mm. DUH!
oh and by the way, did you take your prelude off any sweet jumps lately
