Default Quick question About Auto trans

I've Seen some posts About Automatic Trans not being a good base to work With when it Come's To make HP to the wheels with The intake, header and Catback mods. But what Would be the results With Aftermarket CAMS, intake manifold, Or maybe GSR switch?

Right now This is based on the RS platform, Would the GSR engine With engine mounts and harness fit with the current Automatic from The RS? And no I'm not switching to a 5 Speed, I seriously love just putting into Drive and Forget about it. This is not a 1/4mile car it's not an auto cross vehicle, it's purely for MY enjoyment. thanks for Any info. keep up the good Work.

This is true....the automatic transmission is definitely not a good base for modifications. Take me for example. Before I did my 5-speed conversion, I'd have stock Civic's (manual) beat me. This was WITH my header and intake. A little later, I put in aftermarket Crower 402T cams. Didn't really make much of a difference.

The USDM GSR here would be VERY difficult to mate with an automatic transmission due to the wiring, etc. I'm not too familiar with the automatic GSR's from abroad, but perhaps some other people will know more about it. I know with the regular automatic Hondas here, it doesn't take TOO much work to convert it to a manual. But it's pretty damn hard to make a manual into an automatic.

build up the b18a/b and get some more power from that. basic boltons will not be a problem or even light-pressure turbo. maybe look into putting a lock-up torque converter from levelten(i've heard they are good with honda autos) in the transaxle.
plus, the midrange torque(hehe) is nice when cruising, especially in an auto...it can pass without needing the downshift. i like my auto teg, but i like my manual HX as well.

The weakest link on a auto tranny is the torque converter. Replace it with a performance version like from Level 10 which also can bulletproof the tranny too.
