To complement the ever-so-telling picture above:

Yes you can, but it's an extremely rare swap, you'd be looking at a lot of custom work.

Yeah, look around the shop the car is being built in . . . it's not someone's backyard or driveway. With the exception of a few pictures, you aren't going to find any information or instructions regarding the conversion.

So what would be the point behind this? Is the H22 realy that inferior the the new generation engines?

as you may recall the K20, is a 2.0 litre engine, less displacement means less torque, and you need torque to pull around that heavy prelude. i don't think the K20 is a good idea at all, firstly they don't make a mount kit for it, second the engine works differently, and would end up costing you 10,000-15,000 just to get it all set up, and to get it working and wired save yourself the trouble and get yourself an H22 Vtec with LSD, lots of potential, and it won't cost you too much. i know i've swapped it.

goodluck

Maybe he meant the KA24. dunno

Either way, it is better to COMPLETELY rebuild (since you want a new motor) an H22 than to try to swap a KA motor.

It is my understanding that K series engines have shown substantially better response to modifications than their B/H/F series counterparts.

How dare you giving up on the H, off with your head with no remorse like back in the day in them medieval times. My friend and I were insulted when we saw Sport Compact Car's mag that said "Screw the H22 Build a k24, Honda's newest big block" Your better off building your H22 it would cost alot more to do the K series.

with enough time and money anything can be done... but do you have the time and money? and what benefits will YOU see from the swap that would make it worth it. Instead of getting a straight swap?

Most aftermarket companies are either no longer producing parts for the H22 and certainly not developing new items. The market for K series engines and parts will grow as more of them see production. I'm not discounting the impressive power per displacement or technology the H22 packed when it was introduced, but it's now over a decade old and more advanced engines have been developed.

I'm so sick of hearing this. A stock K20a2 in a Prelude will be just as fast as an H22. Probably faster since it weighs less, has a broader power band, and better gearing.

And soon as you start talking about modified engines, the K blows the H away.

ridiculous. the h22 isn't a person. it's not your mother. it's not your friend. it's an engine. a nice engine, but one that is doomed to become obsolete in about, oh 2 years once enough people wad up their TSX's and there are enough donor K24's around to make em cheap enough to swap.

i'd swap a K24 in in a second, if i had the time and money. then enjoy the huge benefits that hondata has to offer for k-series engines.

keep in mind that there aren't many guys with NA h22's over 220 whp. how many k-guys are already at 220 and beyond with a lighter engine, a better tranny, and more reliability?

think about it, modern honda engine + older generation double wishbone suspension in a car that will weigh 400 lbs less than a TSX...

I understand what your saying, but I like my h22, I was just suprised that someone already put a K series in a prelude. I always wanted to do that in a civic before I got a prelude. These couple years is going to be interesting.

Not saying it can't be done. Just sick of seeing these threads with people thinking a K will go into a BB "easy" as it does with the EG.</TD></TR></TABLE>

There was a time when K series motors wouldn't fit into a EG without huge modifications. Just give it a few years, it'll be a most common swap.

Don't rock the boat until Hasport make a kit for you luders.........don't be the test dummy.

A K-series would be very nice since I love the 6spd tranny, dam I hate going 75mph in the highway with my lude.

I dunno about that. I doubt any company will start producing a kit for the K-series into Preludes without special order because Ludes are heavy and aren't as popular as we'd all like.

the K would definitely be faster, but how much? Its not a big change at all. you'll prob drop .3 or so in your 1/4 times, for about $8k or so (maybe more since it's a lude, not a civic). If you spent the money that it costs for that swap on performance parts for your current engine, you would be a LOT faster than a stock K would be. IMO, not a good enough power/$ spent ratio.

hey...thats my car!

to everyone else...im doing it cause i can. i have a built h22 turbo motor and i opted to do this. obviously the power/$ is worthwhile. just because u dont see it doesnt mean it doesnt exist. i also work at a shop so labor isnt a cost.

Care to list some of the obstacles you've run into and how you are working them out?
