Default H22A Swap: A/C & P/S Questions

Hey all- just got my h22 swap today from AllMotorCRX161 (thanks donny!)

When i started to bolt on the old P/S bracket, i noticed "uh oh, my h23 bracket doesnt fit."

It looks like this motor was being run with no p/s or a/c.
So my questions:

1. Can i use the p/s bracket from an h22?
2. Can i use he p/s & a/c pulley from my h23?

Note: i'd like to retain both of these systems so i would prefer not to just do away with them. i got no definitive answers to my question from searching either.

You can fabricate the H23 PS bracket to work but you need to cut the metal. It's not an easy task. I've done it before....it wasn't too bad.

The PS and AC pullies are the same on the H22 and H23. The only pulley that is different is the H22 and H23 alternator pulley.

well judging by the picture i'm missing the smaller accessory pulley.

i need to know whether or not i can use that pulley from my h23?

also, what's the best way to seize up the flywheel in order to remove/install the pulley bolt? thanks

AndyD- how much does it cost to have a piece like that ground down? (i notice just a lip on the bracket that interfered with the block and the bottom most portion conflicting with the alternator mount)

you have to torch/weld the p/s bracket and not all the holes will line up. the a/c brackets should work

so if the holes don't line up, how do you go about making them line up? i'm guessing you have to cut or add a section to the bracket? sounds like i should just be looking to buy an h22 p/s bracket outright.

I know the PS pump and AC compressor from an F22 will bolt directly to the H22, but I can't recall which brackets I used when doing my swap.

you CAN use the H23 PS and AC pullies (you should be using the H23 pump and compressor as well). The H22 crank pully has 6 ribs instead of 5 like the f22/h23 crank pully. You have a few options:
1) find H22 AC & PS pullies and install them.
2 swap H23 crank pulley onto H22 motor
3) use 5 rib belts and unmodified H23 PS pump and AC compressor, and simply run a 5-rib belt.

I chose option number three, and have been running that way for 2+ years without a broken, squealing, and thrown belt.

here's the thing, will i need to use the h23 alternator as well? the h23 p/s bracket does not bolt up (without modification) to the h22a block.

so i'm also going for option number three, and replace the pulley set with my h23 set.

New question: will the h23 p/s pump bolt up to the h22 bracket?
(someone'd better say yes.)

I used my h23 ps bracket on my h22 head... You have to remove a chunk of metal... The dotted line represents the area where metal must be removed...

To my knowledge a 97+ h22 bracket should work, maybe earlier years as well.

what method did you use to cut that section away? plasma?

what say you to vegan, who claimed that the holes wont line up?

I'm leaning toward just buyin the bracket.

well I used that power steering bracket for almost a year so I would say that he is wrong.. The h22 and h23 brackets would be identical if it were not for the extra metal, which are just shaped differently to the contour of the heads... The holes line up that same...

I used a sabre saw to cut the bracket... If you have access to something you can cut the bracket with then just do that, if not then just buy an h22 bracket... hell i think I still have the bracket somewhere that I'm not using bc I removed p/s
