Default A/C compressor / bracket question

I have a 94 civic with a jdm type R engine in there. My question is, the compressor from the Type R is set up differently, the holes are side ways instead of up and down.

So my question is, what bracket and compressor will work ? I was told a gsr, but that is making no sense to me

Ok then how about this, will a D series bracket or compressor fit onto a b series engine ?

Keep your d series compressor and use a del sol dohc vtec or crv ac bracket.

38930-P7J-000 CRV Bracket
38930-P54-000 Del Sol Bracket

Go with the crv bracket. Its only about $65 from Honda and the del sol bracket is about $115.

Just curious, are both brackets the identical? or does it matter what engine you are running....... b18(b,c) vs b16(a,b)

The del sol bracket is from the dohc engine right

yes you need the ac bracket from the DOHC delsol.

Anyone answer my question?? i was wondering if the crv bracket is identical to teh delsol one, from what i hear they will both work but i heard somewhere that the crv one works for the b18's but not the b16's? i have only seen the p-54 bracket.

Not sure what bracket the customer got, but I know the compressor from the sohc will work, you just need the bolts because there longer then the dohc bolts

Crv bracket does work, i just finished putting everythin in my car and it worked perfectly. Like 90blackcrx said, use the bolts for the d series compressor cause they are longer.

Ok I just had the customer email me. I basically bolted the a/c bracket on the engine but I could not bolt the compressor up because the bolts are to short.

So anyways the other mechanic is telling him the compressor will not bolt up to the bracket.

Supposdly the bracket is from a del sol vtec engine
And the compressor is from a sohc engine

I'm thinking the bracket might be from the sohc del sol engine, but if it was, I'm not sure it would even bolt up to a b series engine.

Something seems odd.

im pretty sure that if you use the crv bracket on a b16.....then you wont be able to use power steering. i dont think this is a problem with the b18.

The D series 92-95 Civic compressor, will 100% bolt up to these parts, they are exactly the same, other than the number...

38930-P7J-000 CRV Bracket
38930-P54-000 Del Sol Bracket

P54 bracket/D series compressor/B16A

CRV bracket works perfect. Why would anyone buy the Sol bracket for $115

It has to be from the VTEC model as in the one that came with the b16a3. A bracket out of a SOHC VTEC Sol will not work. Just get the CRV bracket.

And it has to be the 94-95 DelSol vtec model, the later ones have a P30 which does not work.

you can use the gsr or type r ac bracket...but then only two bolt holes will line up on the compressor. ive had a few people do this now problems.

The customer already ordered it, the bracket bolts to the engine, but the compressor will not bolt up ( atleast thats what the other mechanic said ) . He had to take it some where cause he needed a closer mechanice, anyways here is what he just said.

"I know what happen.

this is ******* great. the Del Sol (vtec) bracket from 93-95 is different from 96-97, and I bought the one from 96-97. crap."

So I'm still struggling to figure out what engine it came from, the sohc del sol engine ? If so I did not think that would of even bolted up to a b series engine

Maybe they haven't had problems yet, but they will. I know this because I tried to cheap out and use the wrong one. The two bolts broke, and the compressor came off, one of hte hoses landed on the header and expelled refrigerant all over the highway.

Right, 92-95 D compressor, needs hte 94-95 DelSol vtec P54 bracket, or the CRV one to mount on a B series. The later P30 fits the motor, but the D series compressor will not bolt to it.

The crv bracket works on b16 motors with the d series compressor ONLY if you do not have power steering.
