Make sure it says JASMA on it.
Actually I'm half serious.
If it doesn't say JASMA, and was made in Japan, it's gonna be loud as hell.
Have you considered a stock exhaust?

Actually, I was going to say something like this ... but he might have started out with one initially.
Try a 2 1/2" SMSP with a black painted muffler. Worked for me.
If interested, look up user name SMSP and check his bio for his newish web site and contact info.

Mugen says JASMA on it
But the USDM is technically slightly smaller than 2.5" on the b pipe. That is unless you get the ultra-JASMA JDM version.
But the quietest is stock.

yes! taking your 2.5" requirement, the fujitsubo rm01a and the mugen twinloop are amongst the "quieter" exhaust systems.

Not sure of any 2.5 inch exhausts that are really quiet. How subtle are you looking? If you want low tome think about an RS-R ex mag, Apexi world sport, or a fujitsubo. Correct me if im wrong but those are 2.36 i think. You could always do a Kteller and put the muffler of your choice to keep things low
mooooooooooooooooooogen twinloop
read lots of reviews on H-T...it sounds nearly stock until it warms up a bit...thenn it makes subtle tone nothing loud (will be my future exhaust if i get an R or EK

I suppose if you wanted to go for the supa hella mad quietness, then you could use a stock LS exhaust manifold going into a stock Civic CX cat and midpipe to an LS rear section.
But then again you want 2.5 so there goes that plan.

The HKS Dragger that came with my R was extremely quiet... until the inside of the muffler started to rot out and heard the sound of metal vibrating.

It's not bad at all, but there are quieter exhausts.
