Hey guys Now igot this second bike Iam about to pick up... It is a 1997 cbr 600 f3. It only has 7k on it and the guy is the second owner. The guy is selling it because he doestdrive it at all he rides dirt bikes....he said its going to need another bakc tire in 1000 miles....

Now with the problems with the bike....
Has lil scratch but not really noticable...
And he said when you start the bike it jumps to 20 MPH and it starts from there??
He said he thinks its the gear something. I dont remember what he said. He told me it will cost me 60-70$ to get fixed.... The mph just jumps to 20 mph and it goes from there.

For example if the mph was reading 40 mph I would be driving 20 mph. He was begin honest so I believe it is a good bike... thisi s my first bike. he wanted 3400 for it but I told him I have 3000 cash and will pick it up tonight..

So guys please if you can quickly give me you opinion ... Thanks

 

$3g's seems like a good deal if the bike is in good condition. The f3's had analog gauges so the speedo being off like that doesnt seem that bad. I wouldnt go pick it up alone, I'd get a friend that knows about bikes that can look it over.

 

The speedo jumps to 20 mph even if it standing still? I can understand if the bike is already rolling, a sprocket change + or - will make your speedo and odo be off a little.

 

well he told me. He said its the gear something .. He said my buddies know about them and he said I never bothered to get it fixed cuz I race dirtbikes and idnt bother to even fix it. he said it didnt bother me....

I always disconnect my speedo's... , but your not supposed t do that

 

I think about 30 people already suggested you don't buy a bike at all. Apparently you didn't even pay attention to any of those responses.

 

what are you talkin about?

 

Take off the rear left and right fairing. Check the frame.

Check gas tank for rust.

Check oil level

Check chain and sprocket
