Default Vtec Help!

im having a hard time pin point whats going on with my Vtec....
im running b7 block with z6 head & P28 ecu
i checked the following after numerious searches:

-oil lvl
-current to solenoid
-wires to and from ecu
-12v to solenoid & it clicked

now what im experiancing is when i take the rpm above 5k i get a cel for vtec solenoid and when i shut the car off it gone. also i just noticed when the motor is cold i dont get the cel when i take it above 5k only when the motor is warmed up. any help would be great!

*edit
and yes the oil jet was removed

got any other ECU? its a common occurance with converted P06--> to P28 spec ecu to that when VTEC switches CEL comes up.

i suggest swapping for a different unit, then checking wiring again.
