Ok i have a civic hx d16y5 and just got a 98 ls b18b1. i think the d16 only has like 115 hp or so and ls has 140 but for some reason my civic feels faster. Like it seems that i go from 0 to 60 quicker than i do in my ls....I wanted my girlfriend to race me in the ls while i drive civic but she can't drive so...i don't think theres anyway to tell. I know that the hx has the vtec-e but thats not even a power motor its more like an economy motor so why does it feel faster? it may also be that the ls just runs a lot smoother i don't know.

 

No way the Civic is faster. It's just in your head.

More power, more torque, about the same weight, DOHC, etc.

 

Yup, the ls would walk the civic all day, anyday.

 

Well....unless the LS was an automatic. Before I did the 5-speed conversion, my friend in a 00 Civic EX manual could beat me in the quarter mile. I got the jump on him, but toward the end, he'd go past me.

Not sure how an 00 EX would be against an HX.

I doubt hes talking about an auto ls though.
