Sunday I start my auto to manual conversion. Accurate advice needed.
Anyone who has done the swap on a 96-98 Civic any advice, problems that they ran into. I'm trying to address certain tasks that will take longer and focus on doing them right the first time. Please only respond if you have something technically inclined to say. Thanks. Here is my parts list.

I'm doing the swap in like a week as well, but in my 99 EK, and with a B18B.
Let me know how it goes, if you run into any problems.

what car is it going into?
because it matters for what i tell you
the p2p 5 speed ecu controls a 2 wire IACV and th auto y8 and y7's have a three wire iacv mounted to the TB
so to really complete the swap, you need
5 speed TB (or seal up 3 wire iacv spot on auto tb)
96-98 y8 IM (or tap the back of your stock IM)
2 wire IACV
and uneed to repin your ecu harness to control the 2wire

It's a 97 Civic, EX, 2 Door Coupe. Better known as the (EJ8)
By the way, thanks for the technical info, that is ***** out

Im still lacking the Intake Manifold and Throttle Body for a Y8 plus the IACV to complete it.
you still need a clutch switch if one did not come with the pedal and a reverse light switch
I know that on a B-series auto to manual swap, you will need a manual starter. I didn't notice that on your parts list. Did you see if your auto starter will fit on the new 5-speed tranny? It doesn't on a B-series.
Yep you're right, the manual starter is required, also you will need 1 manual starter bolt. The automatic starter bolt is shorter than the manual. As far as the pedals I'm not exactly sure if teg pedals will work. This is actually finally taking place THIS weekend. FINALLY I got all the parts lol. If you have any questions just ask. I know it inside and out now hehe
ok, i'm currently doing an AT to MT swap. how do i go about wiring it up so my car will start when i turn the key? i remember there was some sort of trick you had to do for this.

Yup, Integra pedals do work. I did this on my friend's 01 Civic with an H22 swap. First I just used the Integra clutch and kept the auto brake pedal. But he has bigass clumsy feet, so I had to get a manual brake assembly too.

You have to make sure that your shift lever solenoid (the one for the automatic, of course) is stuck in the PARK position. I did mine a little ghetto by drilling a screw and holding the slider in place.
This allows you to start the car, as well as remove the key when you're done.
I believe this is the only thing (provided you get everything else right) that triggers a check engine light. Car sees itself driving, yet it's in park. Throws a code 1660 code or something. It's not a normal listed code, so you'll have to look in the service manual to see it. It's a Automatic Shift Solenoid Malfunction.
Keep in mind this only occurs when you keep your automatic ECU. It still works but throws that code. I kept mine and it ran fine stock, even with a built motor pushing 18psi. A manual ECU won't throw any codes if you do everything correctly.

The mounts are only different on EGs.

i swapped my '97 ex to 5spd back in january. make sure that ur pedal assembly came out of a car that had cruise control that way u can still retain it. my pedals were from a cx hatch, i didn't think of it at the time. you will need a plasma cutter or air chisel or something along those lines to cut the whole where ur auto shift cable runs through for clearence of linkage. i chose not to wire my neutral safety switch on my clutch pedal so that i can start it w/out pushin the pedal. just dont leave it in gear when u start it in a parkin lot or something lol. the swap was the best invesment i did to my car, chopped over 1.5 secs off my ET.
Well the swap is finally complete, a few kinks here and there "Victor says: Uh Corey, we have a problem..." I can't tell you how many times I heard that
Anyways - Luserkid will be doing a complete write up. He took over 100 pictures. The only two things that aren't working, my cruise control which isn't a big deal and my speedometer sometimes goes haywire. It's something with the VSS but we just ran out of time and it's not throwing any codes so we left it. We think the cruise control problem is associated with the car thinking that it's in [P]ark.

Ok, so for the reverse lights, you splice 2 wires from the reverse light sensor on the tranny(2 green wires) to WHICH color wires on WHICH plug under the shifter console? sorry to just bust in on your thread like this, but it's on topic, and everywhere else that i search everyone says "i forgot that part". thanks
I finally fished mine last night. The only problem is; it won't let the key out of the ignition unless the harness is still plugged in to the auto. shifter. I am using a manual ecu. WTF? can anyone tell me what to do here?
