Does hot intake air affect fuel combustion?
I'm currently running a hot air intake otherwise known as the short ram intake and I was wondering if the hot air it's sucking in has some kind of bad effect on fuel combustion.
I'm also experiencing another problem. My rear end of my hatch is covered in black soot from the exhaust. I have a d15b7/z6 mini-me and i'm running a stock p28. I drive it normal and never hit WOT. Cam timing is 0* and ignition timing is set at 18* BTDC. I checked the spark plugs and they look normal. The ceramic is a chalky white.

chalky white means : runing lean, sounds like u need some tuning to me.
running ur motor lean is not good at all.
and get a compression test, are u also losing oil?

I have yet to run a compression test. I know I am losing oil but that's from something else like leaks elsewhere. I'm also running mid grade gas 89 octane. I'll snap some shots of the plugs when I get the chance. How could I be running lean if I got black soot all over the rear of my car?
