Default Megan Racing Header on a h22a1 (prelude vtec)?

Just wondering what the gains were for this because i know that the h23 guys were in AWE because there was a huge hp gain

worth replacing my shitty ebay ceramic rustball,.. with a mr?

well, there was a huge gain, i have one on my H22a4 and i dyno'd with a stock setup, and just the MR headers, and then with a full MR stainless exhaust. i cant remember the exact numbers but it was a considerable amount more than the DC.

for the price, well worth it

ok ok, i found em, i dont have a scanner tho.. i gained almost 15 WHP with the header alone. it really frees up the top end. so for the price, cant beat it. cept the smog part for all of us in Cali. but easy enuff to swap out to get smogged

Could you be more specific? Was this with your cams/gears and/or vafc? What was your baseline vs the header dyno? Im not trying to hate, but im highly skeptical that any knockoff could produce that much power on its own. The collector's still the same as stock if im not mistaken.

Please clear the air

that was the same run that i tuned my VAFC. so still if u figure that i can get about 6-7 hp off of the vafc, the header free'd up about 7-8 hp. it didnt really help the bottom end much, but the gains were when vtec kicked on. ive gotta go find the dyno sheet to see exactly what the baseline was, so ill look for it. i just moved, and everythin is all lost. lol all i remember, is that i used to have a DC ceramic, and this header makes noticably more high end power. and they are sweet looking.. mine just started to blue, so they are awesome..

Isn't Megan a knock-off Mugen header if Im not mistaken?
In that case Im not surprised at all if it performs better than DC.

If I had an H22 I would rather use the stock manifold than a DC or MR header.

I just bought a DC and I was told to ditch it..... from what i've found, if you want an inexpensive header with solid performance and durability Greddy seems to be the only one under $400

DC and MR (which is a DC copy) are both restricted by a 1.8" ID collector. Not worth the money. If you want a worth-while header save up and buy SMSP, Hy-Tech, AN-R, etc...

The stock tubular manifold on the H22 is sufficient for mild tuning, and is a more quality piece than any DC or MR product.

I haven't really been keeping up w/modding Honda's in awhile but Aries that used to be the dyno tuner at Dynamic Autosports, I think he was running w/DC ceramics 4-2-1 in his 4th Gen and was pulling over 230 to the wheels.

I am certain that if a better header was used, more power could have been realized. I also trust that his 230whp was attained by other engine work and tuning.

You're probably right. But for a relatively inexpensive header (which btw is often crushed and dented if you're car is lowered) it does it's job.

But then again, a straight pipe w/stock headers would own your Megan setup.
