Default Hondata Intake manifold gasket question.

when you install this do you also keep the stock gasket or does the HD replace it altogether?

I just put mine in last week. I removed stock gasket and used only the hondata gasket. Installation is a pain in the *** kinda... take out you manifold bracket and just leave it off the car. Another thing thats not to clear is the studs I never extended mine at all but the nuts and bolts seem to be fine after a few drives and several heat cycles. But i do not know how it is with stock manifold i have a blox intake manifold on my car. Heres a pic of installed gasket on my turbo B16...

Tony (nemesis0104) and I installed one on his car, and including doing a coolant flush and shooting **** for a while it took us a whole 1.5hrs. It's not really hard to do if you have some time, knolage and a factory service manual.

Oh and you just use the Hondata gasket, and make sure you clean off both mating surfaces very very well and also I like to put a thin layer of Hondabond HT around the coolant port so it cannot leak. Also drive teh car about 150miles or so warmed up then check the tourqe of the intake manifold bolts

The theory behind the Hondata gasket is that it reduces heat transfer from the motor to the IM. Therefore, you have a cooler intake charge=more horse power.

Maybe the best bang for the buck mod you can do for the car. 3-5% power gain for ~$50. I loved mine while it was on, then removed it and noticed the power loss

have any of you guys also bypassed the coolant that goes through the t/b? going to be doing this on a victor-x manifold. want to keep as much heat out of the i/m as possible. car wont be driven in too cold temps.

yes it replaces your stock gasket.

Removing the stock paper gasket was the most time consuming about the install. Major PITA!!!

agreed. took me about 2 hours, that thing was COOKED on. had to take a butane torch to the old gasket to burn some of it off, then a razor blade, then a dremel...i never want to do that again.

Wow, im a moron, i never thought about why coolant flows through the tb. Duh! Sounds like I will have to b/p the tb to when I get my victor x next week.
