Question about 5 lug conversions.
Say, someone is getting new rims and a whole brake upgrade ... would it be smart just to get 5 lug rims and brakes?
If so, what else is needed for a complete converion?

Nope. Go with some lightweight forged wheels and Fastbrakes 11" Wilwood kit in the front with 11.4" kit in the rear.

Isn't 5 lug stronger than 4 lug?
Hell, if I just need rims and brakes to upgrade ... it's worth it.
Gives it a more "true" sports-car look.
But to answer the original question of the thread, this is in no way a cost effective way to get better brakes and new wheels.
reid has very good points. although i have the conversion, sometimes i wish i never did it. yes you do get better braking, etc. but its still stock weight stuff so you will not get the added unsprung weight advantage that you would get from most brake kits. also, when going to 5 lug, it cuts down your wheels options CONSIDERABLY. sometimes i wish i never did it
NOOO, you guys are missing what I"m saying. I want to upgrade my brake with the Fastbrake kit (4 piston and 11.4 rotor) ... with light weight rims (haven't decided yet).
SOOOO, if I'm already getting new rims and rotors ... I should just get the brake kit and rims for an ITR (5 lugs). And just spend a few bucks on knockles and hubs.

Have you tried pricing out the cost on the knuckles and hubs? I doubt it'll be only a "few bucks".
I personally won't get ITR rims if I am going to change rims
better to spend the extra money on a set of lighter 4 lugs rims than change to 5 lugs with ITR rim (which is not light at all)
If you want to make you car looks like an ITR, then that's another case

He doesn't want ITR wheels. He wants to know if he should upgrade to a 5 lug setup since he's replacing his brakes/wheels anyways. So instead of buying, say, 4 lug k1's he'd buy 5 luig k1s. Either way he's going with (it sounds like it anyways) the fastbrakes brake upgrade.
In reality, he wants the 5 lug look and no, it's not worth it.
Well fellows ... I didn't image the upgrade to be soo expensive. I just thought that the wheels and rotors made the price high. I guess I was wrong. Anyhow, I'm gonna stick with the stock 4 lug design.
