Final drive ratio
Are there different final drive gears that I can put in my 1992 Integra GS? I noticed another Integra at the track was able to stay in 2nd & 3rd a lot longer than I can. What ratio is in my car, and what ratio would be numerically lower?
Thanks,
Darren

actually, i believe that you would want to go from gear to gear faster on a track, if you mean that it was a strip and not an autocross track... the gears are closer together. I think that i'm right... in the assumption that you want them closer...
I do believe that shorter gearing will give you better acceleration, but at the same time you have to shift every five seconds so your acceleration is interrupted. A longer gear gives you slightly less acceleration but your in the gear longer. It depends on your driving style and what you are comfortable with. Another option would be to upgrade the engine so you can rev higher.
A shorter gearbox would be nice, but against the rules. I'm allowed to change the final drive. That won't affect the rpm drop between gears, but it will allow me to stay in 2nd & 3rd longer if I can find a numerically lower gear.
Anyone know if there are different ratio honda gears?
