Although im not going to have the car running without a standalone for much longer, I always wanted to know why my car which has a BBK 225lph, 12:1 FMU, stock injectors t3/t4 turbo smells like gas after applying 3/4 pressure to peddle or more. Am I flooding the engine or what? tough to tell without a fuel pressure gauge or egt etc.

 

Do you at least have an A/F gauge? Do you notice any black smoke coming out the back when you floor it? would say the 12:1 is making you run rich. If you had a fuel controller you could lean it out, but don't worry about that since you wll have standalone.

 

nope. Dont have none of that. No black smoke either. I believe i am running rich. Im not worried. I just wanted to know if by running rich "I" could smell unburnt gas emitting from my motor.

 

You probably leaking oil somewhere around the FMU. I'm guessing that the hose clamps are tightened and the fuel pressure forces itself through.

You are smelling that rich unburnt fuel because at 3/4 throttle your wastegate is starting to open and putting that rich exhaust right in front of you. If it was all going out the tailpipe you probably wouldn't notice, but air from underhood ends up going in your cabin vents.
