Default Trim and MPFI questions

I'm thinkin about ripping off the trim around the car because I'm missing some of it and it looks bad. Will this affect the car like leak water in or anything. Also does anyone have a pic of a hatch without the trim. If not having the trim affects the car, how would I put it back on if I got some more? About the MPFI, I read a how-to for it and it said I needed a manifold and I'm assuming it means the intake manifold, but please correct me if I'm mistaken. Thanks.

It takes a lot more than just a manifold. Just search for it. That IS the most common subject on the CRX/EF forum. You need mani, dizzy, res box, extra wire, extra clamps, extra coolant hoses (sometimes), pm6 ecu.... bla bla bla...

I wouldn't take the molding out imo, just doesn't look good with those holes there. So unless you cover them, don't do it imo.

Yeah I always have second thoughts about it and then decide not to. Then I got two questions 1. Where can I get more and how do I put the trim on 2. is the trim paintable because some of mine faded and it looks hideous. About the MPFI thing, I knew about needin all the other stuff, but wanted to make sure that it was the intake manifold. And also so I don't feel real dumb lookin for it, is the ECU under the carpet in the passenger side like right under the glovebox but more towards the firewall than the seats?

Yes the ecu is on the passenger side kick panel..right under the carpet..You cant miss it..Its got a big *** gold cover on it..

And you can spray the trim/moldings with dupli-color bumper paint..

we used krylon fusion (bonds to plastic) to repaint some moldings, they came out nice. you can also try mothers back to black if they aren't in real bad shape. lastly, you can still get new ones (they come with clips) from honda. here's some of mine fresh out of the box i love new OEM parts!

If your trim is graying out, and you want a cheap solution... try black shoe polish.

sorry I've been buisy worrying about my exhaust coming in then me and my friend find out that we need to use his dads lift at work to put it on this weekend and I might need a new catalytic (I think I spelled it right) converter. But anyway, will I need a part number to get the trim from honda, or are they easy to come by? I really do need new trim though and if it comes in a set I won't have to paint. And you say they just snap on right? Oh and what about the stuff right under the passenger and driver side windows. I don't know how to describe it, but its paint is coming off and its like chrome under it. What should I use to paint it?

i forget how much it was... got them from http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com, but you can also get them from http://www.slhondaparts.com or http://www.hondapartsdeals.com. no part #'s needed, just look them up by year/model/category ("side protector") they weren't TOO bad price-wise, or i wouldn't have bought them. the little ones are pretty cheap, it's the bigger ones that start to get a little pricey.

the side skirts are VERY expensive. i'm having the body shop spray them with some satin black bumper paint instead of buying new from honda.

my CRX is a restoration project, so i've bought SEVERAL new parts from honda. let me tell you, it is worth the price when you see brand new parts for a 14 year old car. i just got another order in yesterday for my car and my fiance's car - we both have project CRXs

From the link I posted above, prices:

front fender molding: $7.15 x2 = $14.30
door molding: $42.38 x2 = $84.76
rear quarter molding: $12.07 x2 = $24.14

total: $123.20

in the pic i posted above, i also got the window trim (illustration #s 7 & 10) so that added $91.36 to my order, and the door sashes (#8 & 11) added $50.44.

my total for everything in the picture: $265
