I got an 89 Civic HB with the 1.5 in it. I am looking to buy the B16A1, but I need to know if it will work with the old tranny and ECU, or do I need to buy a separate tranny and ECU. Also, what is a "cable type" transmission?? Is that an AT?? I was looking at prices from nipponmotors.com and they list a motor and "cable type" transmission. I need a 5 spd though. Any help with the tranny or ECU would be appreciated though. Thanks alot!

 

No the b16a wont work with your current ecu and tranny..

Buy the b16a swap..motor,tranny,and (pr3 or pwo)ecu..
Then you have to convert to mpfi and add 4 wires for vtec..
