Default 1998 ITR for $11,000?? What do you think is wrong, if anything??

Found this ad while looking for my (hopefully) next car. Price seems a little low, I did not do a Carfax since I am not going to purchase it now and didn't want to spend the $$. I am going to call the dealer, just out of curiosity tomorrow.

ITR's had the CF trim in 00 and 01, IIRC. And there doesn't appear to be a sunroof/moonroof in the pics. Probably a generic listing.

Looks like a steal. When I was looking for a itr last year I found one on autotrader that was only $11,000. When I called the dealership they didn't even know what they had. I tried to buy it but someone else got it first. The only reason I didn't buy it was because it was on the other side of the country and I didn't give them a down payment fast enough.

OMG you found two small details that show only one thing, the dealer doesnt know what they're talking about, and neither do you! Those 3 small little details can be clairified by looking at the pics (roof/doors), and the misinformation you're talking about is posted like 5,000,000 times(trim).

You could run the VIN if you were actually trying to play a good detective, since its the last hard proven method to find out if it is real, or if you actually knew what you were talking about you'd know that JH4DC231 means it is in fact an ITR.

For the people that actually know stuff/care the title came up as an ITR (as stated) has had at least 1 owner from Texas, and the title came back clean.

Guys, we really need to lighten up !!! He made a mistake, and I didn't care to run a Carfax and spend money on a car that I wasn't going to buy. Honestly I did not previously know about the VIN number, and what digits to look for to determine authenticity. But now I do, and am thankful for it. All I really wanted to know was why the price seemed to be so low, at least it looked low to me.

As far as the trim goes, maybe Y2K_S2K didn't know about the 97's and 98's. Maybe he is only familiar with the latest editions. I really don't see a need to jump like that.

Its not cool when people go posting misinformation though, thats where people get all the misconceptions and then someone goes and says the same things off what they heard, all I did was correct him.

Either way, Carfax (though should be trusted as lightly as the information in these forums) came up clean, the car looks (from the small pictures) to be clean and the mileage is all accurate. Unless you inspect the car and find major repairs that were never reported (possibility) it would still be a killer deal for the car and the mileage. Until a closer look is done in person its hard to say otherwise.

well, it says it has cruise control, too, which type-r's don't have, and you can clearly see the cruise control block-off plug on the left of the steering wheel. pretty sure it's an R. it's just a mis-listing. kinda hard to believe that the used car-lot isn't a honda guru, but maybe this guy just hasn't brushed up on his knowlegde lately

but did the 98s have that shift ****? i thought only 97s had that? i'm probably wrong, just thought i'd ask...

The dealer obviously views it as just another integra which is a plus to anyone who wants to buy it.

Carfax should be taken very lightly; I have to point out 2 things with my car to people since they don't show up on carfax even though both were reported thru insurance and police...
