I am consistently running 10.6's in the 1/8th mile with my civic. The best its run is a 10.3....and shane can run it at. I need to work on my drag skills a bit....like 60' times. and shifting.

I'm running full interior except the trunk (take everything out). I also air down my tires a bit ( Crappy Goodyears on stock steelies). I launch at about 3-4 grand i'm assuming. (Never really pay attention) and usually shift at about 7000rpm. What 's your 60' times looking like? those are really the key to good 1/4 times ( Found that out the hard way). When i first started going my best times were like 16.9 - 16.7s'. How long have you been going? It just takes practice that's all.
Edit- Also,IMO Honda makes a pretty good engine as is. "Mods"(bolt ons) don't always = faster.

my 60 foot is at a 2.514 seconds...and i didn't mess with my tire pressure, spare tire, and interior seats..and i was running on 17s..i know those factors slow me down..but to pull me all they way to a low 16 seems impossible...

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.
Before turbo, my best was a 16.134 @ 84.xxmph with a CAI and DC header. Stock exahust and slipping clutch.
My friend with a 99 DX ran consisent 16.1's when he hit the track with me for the first time, and all he had then was a CAI, my old DC header and an Si catback, gave him a best of 16.10 @ 84.xxmph. Now with the Y8 manifold he's looking for at least 16.0

So why is it then that my big family sedan Maxima runs 14.8 stock, yet remains to be in about the same price range as smaller, slower honda's? (I am not crapping on anyone here, I am looking to buy a project car and when I was going to sell the maxima, i was shocked at the resale value...)
Hey man, I also see a lot more Maximas on lifts too for more mechanical failures too
BTW: I had about $12,000 in the entire car that ran 13.9@100.97. Stock Type R motor too - just an intake and exhaust. The price I listed included tha car, interior, suspension, wheels/tires, engine swap, etc. It can be done a lot cheaper too
It's all about personal preference man. You want cheap speed? Go buy a 1989 Mustang LX 5.0 beater and thrwo some nitrous on it.
It ain't always about just raw speed

My bone stock EH hatch with stock dx motor, on 16" wheels went 16.50. It's weird though cus my friend has an EX coupe w/ i/e/h and he would go circles around me on the street, literally. But at the track he couldn't break 16's..
see...its weird!
EX's usually beat me just a hair in the 1/8th mile b/c the way the gears are set up on the DX model. Right at the very finish, I am shifting to third...and thats when they(EX civics) get a few feet ahead. I tried once to take second out to the finish...but I hit the rev limiter. 2nd gear can't do 65+.
I think third gear will pull strong...thats why I am anxious about running it in the 1/4.
