Default testing siren question

I'm installing a Code Alarm CA140 system and everything seems to work alright except the siren does not work!

I hooked up 12 volts and ground to the two wires that go to the siren and all I get is a small "burble" sound out of the siren.

Should the siren go off loud and continuous with 12 volts??

giving it 12volt should get loud like a regular alarm siren.
it should be loud if not its defective. cut the black wire might increase the volume in the loudness

Cutting the wire only changes the loudness of the chirps not the siren part if there is one wire. If there is a second wire, it's for the tones when the siren goes off. The siren is bad by the way.....get a new one.

I found the "problem".

It's not really a siren, on this system it's a speaker.

Due to the progamable nature of this system, you have to activate the speaker. without doing this, the only indication that it's working is the horn, which I haven't hooked up yet.

Once I programed the speaker to work, it's working fine.

I have to say that the tech support at Code Alarm was very good! I know that some manufacturers don't want to talk to anybody that isn't a licensed installer, but they kindly answered my question (and knew exactly what the issue was).
