Honda CL 100 ignition questions
I've purchased a 1971 CL 100 that is not running. Getting no spark. Hoping to find answers to some ignition questions.
1. Does this motor need the battery connected to generate a spark..?
2. If not, what is the most likely problem..plugs, points, condensor, regulator..?
If anyone has knowledge of ignitions on these early 70s 4-strokes any information would be greatly appreceated.
I have a 2-stroke Yamaha GT 80 that doesn't need the battery to run. Has a magneto.
Thanks

Yes does need a good battery. Points are probably dirty. Sand with very fine emory cloth. Then spray with carb cleaner. Then drag piece of stiff paper between them while there closed. The paper is the final cleaning procedure.
