I have a very nice, but older Nakamichi head unit. 6 disc in dash with two RCA inputs. Last time i used it the CD would get stuck sometimes, But i understand i can send this in and get it all cleaned and fixed. But I also need to replace the remote.

Does anyone know where I can get a remote. I cantacted Nakamichi USA and they said they do not have any, but to send it in and see if they could find something that would work. I was going to send the whole unit in, but i jsut never have.

Also I am planning on hooking up my Ipod via the RCA.

So here is my plan. I was doing to put a Cig ligheter in my center arm rest. Plug in my Belkin Ipod charger that plugs into the dock connector. Belkin also sell a RCA cable that plugs into the head phones.
The nice thing with the charger is it has a headphone port built in, so you still get the full sound like it was plugged into the dock.
From the belkin RCA run a longer RCA cable to the head unit where it will plug into the RCA Aux1 port.

I dont see a reason for this not to work. Any suggestions?

 

That was a common problem with those Nak units... they all jammed at one point or another....

your plans sounds like it'll work...

You might find a remote on Ebay, but I think I have one in the garage, I can take a look later and see if I still do.... I know I had a bunch of parts from the ol 6discer as far as plugs and such.....

 

Wow that would be great. I thought I had lost my RCA plugs, but then i found them in a box of weird stuff left over from my move. But the remote is in bad shape, no lens cover, no battery cover. If i get a new one i think I will put it on a pull cord, that way i cant drop it just about every time i get out of the car

It's brand new, still in the protective wrap it was shipped in....
