Default Tack welding aluminum

Can aluminum be tack welded with a wire feed welder or a stick welder? I just want to hold together some intercooler piping enough to take it out and have someone weld it up for me.

wont happen unless your welder is made for it. mig with a steel wire etcc or if you dont have a spool gun. itll just bounce right off.

just use wide masking tape!! that's how i did my pipes.

tape everything how you like it and then use a sharp blade and cut out two places for a pro to tack it together... then he can take the rest of the tape off, clean it and weld you up some perfect IC pipes..

I'm doing another pipe on Monday - I should snap some pics - it worked so well!
