Default Solution without using wheel spacers?

As stupid as it may sound, I refuse, I mean absolutely refuse to use wheel spacers on my car period. But here's my problem.

This is how close my spring is to my wheel/tire (Believe it or not they don't rub). Now I figure if I can drill out just one of the holes that mounts the shock to the knuckle maybe an 1/8th inch (if even). I can camber my knuckle away from shock a little and create a little more room in between the spring and tire.

I wont be doing the drilling, I will be taking it to a machine shop so I wont screw it up myself.

So what do you guys think? Will it work? The only real downside I can see is I will have to readjust my CC-plates (woopty do) or around corners, if they aren't tight enough, I can maybe see the shocks moving back to their original position

Thats dumb.

A lot of people use wheel spacers to get proper clearance on race cars with no problems at all.

But if you want to do things the hard way, have fun with that.

Sorry, but that's dumb. What insanely high offset are your wheels, or how many inches are you dropped to get that kind of camber? Seemingly this is for a McPherson strut type of suspension so by doing this you'll be jacking your camber.

to somwhat hijack this thread if i do add 5 mm (.25 inch) spacers on my rear, does the following happen?

1) increase wheelbase by .5 inch
2) increase? or decrease? offset
3) increase clearance from rotors
4) bring tire closer to fender (possibly rub, and not tuck)
5) possible balancing issues?

thanks.

If you use utensils to eat, then you're perfectly capable answering most if not all of those questions.

Install the willwood brake kit. The aluminium hat is thicker than the stock steel rotor. Has the same effect as a spacer, without being a spacer.

As for your plan to slot the strut holes. That will change your camber as mentioned. This is an old trick to get more camber in camber challenged cars. Just ask DSM guys. If your camber is where you want it to be, then you will need spacers, or run a set of rims with the proper offset. At least 40mm in your case maybe more.

was just looking for confirmation. what i really wanted to know the answer to was the wheel balancing issue, and offset, since i dont exactly know if higher offset means wheel pushed out or in.

If I add spacers, I will rub on the fender. Currently my setup is insanely perfect in the front and I wouldn't care much to add offset. Plus I don't care who races on spacers or how great they can be, I have never liked them, I will never like them. Its a cheap solution to a (in some cases) serious situation. They will kick me off drag strips around here if they find I'm using spacers (Yes, its in the rule books). The aluminum has always been known to flex a little possibly allowing the lugnuts to loosen; a rare chance with such a small spacer but none the less a chance I don't want to take.

People tell me all the time about things that are ok for my car, I'll change my mind every once in awhile, but spacers is something nobody will convence me of.

My Caster Camber plates are adjusted to the max currently, drilling the shocks out like this will bring them back to the center, afterwards I will cut metal "Bushings" and tig weld them into place so the shock wont relocate itself.

From the time I posted this thread at first to now, I have been able to cover all my bases myself. Thanks to anybody who helped or tried to help (wheels01).

If you're going to be closed minded and not listen to anything, then why bother posting in the first place? You're just wasting your time.

Just realized I made a mistake in my post. Less offset so say 35-32 not 40 would bring it away from the shock. **** Sorry
