throw out bearing question....
I put a new clutch and throwout bearing in my car last night and finished up this morning. When I pushed the clutch pedal to check to see if it was done right, the spring for the throw out bearing snaped off. I wanted to know if the hooks on the spring are supposed to go through the slits on the throw out bearing and behind the release lever. Sorry i have no pics

The "hooks" on the spring are supposed to go through the slits on the throw out bearing. What I did to make the job easier was to:
1. Loosen the little bolt underneath the bearing where the spring is. I believe it is
12mm.
2. Use a pair of needle nose to pull up the springs, and wedge them in an upgright
position (or as close to it as possible).
3. Slide the throw out bearing over the shaft and one at a time insert the clips into
the slit
4. Let the bearing slide down, and then retighten the bolt underneath the bearing.
This was done on a YS1 transmission, I don't know how much of a variation you will have on another tranny. Hope this helps.
