Field VTEC controller settings on a d16y8 swap w/ integra pg7 ecu
Hey all. My y8 swap is finished! What vtec and fuel settings do you y8 and z6 guys use on the Field VTEC controller for best performance? How about to lean it out to pass emissions?
Thanks for the input! ! !

It's running good enough to tune? Thought you needed to clear all the codes out of an ECU before you could tune it? Hmmmm....... Anyways, you shouldn't need to detune it for the emissions test, they don't rev it out or anything, and on the teg ECU you're not running that rich.
Yep, all of the codes are gone! I just wanted to know what settings everyone's using for my particular setup for various purposes.
Yeah, the integ ecu does run rich... makes it nice for forced induction, right? Well, when I go to emissions, I plan to plug the DX ecu back in just to make sure.

Nice to hear you got all the codes worked out.
Can you swap the ECU without the DIST.? I have an HF or SI if you want to use it to pass, although I still stand by that because you did a complete engine swap, it should do alright with the stock mid piping and cat. If it was that terribly rich, you'd be throwing codes right away on the O2.

So what settings does everybody use for the Field's? I KNOW there's a bunch of you that have the same setup as I do. Please share your knowledge!
Basically I tuned mine using a AFR gauge. I'm running about -4 to -7% from 2Krpms to about 5Krpms and then about -3% at 6Krpms and -1 at 7Krpms. I didn't want to lean it out too much up top, but Honda's run rich from the factory and my AFR gauge showed it when the Fields wasn't hooked up. Hope this helps. My suggestion would be to at least buy a AFR gauge to help tune it but if all possible tune it on a dyno.

You know, I guess I missed the bigger hole in you using DX ECU other than the DIST., how does that DPFI controller function on MPFI????
Any info would be greatly appreciated......

WHAT IN THE WORLD???
OK so you did the MPFI swap , you just said that.
Now how are you going to use a 88-91 dx DPFI ecu on the MPFI if it runs too rich?

Thanks for the offer, but I've got a DX ecu to use. That, combined with the y8 should be okay. After all, wasn't the y8 classified as LEV? I'll let y'all know how it comes out.
You wont be able to just plug your dx ecu in for the emissions test. the dx ecu wont control the extra injectors or vtec. correct me if im wrong.

Let alone the distrubutor wiring not functioning.....
Yeah Jerome, i dont think you can still use that DPI DX ecu anymore!
It only controls 2 injectors and wont match up with the wirring changes. Let us lend you a MPFI ecu. It wouldnt be a problem let us know if you want it.

Yeah Brian and CRX-RX, I think you're right. I stand corrected. I almost forgot that my dx motor was only dpfi. I guess I'd put dual point injection out of my mind since i got this motor! hahaha I'll probably just turn the fuel down on the Field's when i go for emissions.
Brian, I just picked up an a/f gauge at Greg's yesterday, so I'll tune it to that. Try out my car when we go to Will's for Ethan's b-day... i think u'll like it!

Sure and you can try out my new ride!!!!!!! Just bought a 91 hatch today and the swaps already in progress.
Its a DX too, still need that Dist. cuz its already out for yah????? hahaha
