I work for Carmax in northern Va.. and over the weekend someone sold us their CW 98 type R with JDM wheels, JDM steering wheel, JDM seats, JDM console, Spoon N1 exhaust and many more high cost things...
For only $9K !!!!!
I wish I was there when it happend cause I would be buying it right now, but just my luck I was off that day and some other ***** bag I work with snatched it up
My question is why didnt you try to sell it on the street or this forum first... I mean you would have gotten way over $9K
sorry for the off topic post but i'm still kinda bitter I didnt get to swipe it up first for employe discount

It's obviously someone who (a) didn't know what his car was worth, and (b) doesn't frequent this forum.

I hate carmax they give such low quotes on everything and then jack the price up the roof when the cars on the lot. My friend brought his wrx in to see how much they could give him. 03' 40k miles on it, in good condition for 9k He brought it to the bmw dealership and they gave him 14 for it

in no way are they forcing you to either sell them your car or buy one of thiers, you think price is to low or high go else were. simple as that

I work for a IL carmax and its sad when i see carmax buy a car.
We bought a 92 NSX 48,000miles (very good condition)......$22k
We bought a 01 PY ITR 70,000miles (very good condition)...$11.5k
We recently bought a 99 GS-R 98,000 miles(fair condition)...$5k
what i'm trying to say is, Please don't sell your R's too Carmax because you can get much more on the streets. Also the public can't buy the car back from us unless its meets the needs being mint, within 60k, and STOCK. The car goes straight to an auction and into someone else hands.

I work at Carmax here. We had one come in with 48k on it, CLEAN. 01 yellow.
Carmax cannot sell the ITR on their front lot, and there is no Book value for trade on an ITR. All there is would be resale value.

You think just carmax does that?? When I went to buy my CL, the Acura dealer offered me only $4500 for my Scoobie, so I took it home and sold it for $9200.

quick carmax story. i went there one time when i was looking at buying a wrx. i finally get through all the garbage "test drive" paper work and walk out to the car with one of the employees. Im with my 14 year old brother and im explaining how the hood scoop feeds the intercooler not the intake... and the carmax guy goes "man really? i need to learn this stuff". Then he sits in the drivers seat and goes "so to turn it on, i press the clutch in right? I dont actually know how to drive stick". carmax owns. it was actually at the northern va carmax, the one off 28 by the ferrari dealer.
