...my stereo flies out of my console and lands on the front of the shiftboot on the 1-2 shift, stopping me from shifting 2-3 ... I gotta figure out how to actually secure that POS in there.

Screw metal strap from hardware store onto the back of the radio. After install, wrap & screw it to the crossbar you'll find below it before you re-install the ashtray assembly.

Piece of cake.

...or....get another install kit. You may have accidentally removed too many of those "bracket" things and now the kit won't hold in place. I've seen people do that a lot when they try and do the stereo install themselves ( and not read the instructions that came with it ). OR......something is broken in your dash in the area where the install kit goes....not allowing the kit to be fully secured. If that's the case....do what budman said....

I purposely posted this on top of the pic...

"Quote, originally posted by Turtle »"

Because it's not my setup.

I don't half step when it comes to a head unit... DEX-P1R

My radio is kinda placed in the dash I got lazy when I installed it. I'll get a pic of it one day.

It's not just a cover, it replaces the whole pocket. I found it at the junkyard already out of the car attached to a Bose/Acura CD player. It's not deep enough to fit CDs in there, but my Cannon Elph S400, a pack of cigs or playing cards fits perfectly in it.

Here's a pic of the locking mechanism that holds the door shut under hard acceleration.

The RSX din pocket is big enough to store a whole CD in there, but I haven't run across one at the junkyards yet.

Hey Jowee, do you have an aftermarket dash kit for your head unit or did it bolt in place of the stock unit? I want to get that pocket thing but I don't think it will work with my aftermarket radio and dash kit.

Just get an OEM Bose unit from the junkyard and it will fit right in. That's just the JDM S2k deck and the OEM pocket with no dash kit. It slid in and fits perfect. I think they wanted $150, but I'll try to talk it down to $100 if you want that Bose deck Lee.

Heres a couple pix of mine.

I mounted the unit reverse of the normal way. The unit is so deep that because of the wiring, it had to be mounted this way.

This is with the screen out. 7 inch screen fits PERFECTLY under the heater control button. If I need to change the heat/ AC or increase/decrease it, there is a buttom where the screen folds down then, 20 sec. later... opens back up.

The unit is a touch screen but I use the remote 99% of the time.

I'm using an Alpine unit that's at tilt level 2 w/ a dash kit. Sorry for the lack of quality, the only camera I have is on my cellphone lol.

Remote for headunit > manual finger pushing anyday

When the screen is flipped open is it straight up or down or at a downward angle? I had a Pioneer and the screen was at a angle where I couldn't see it.

When the screen is open, its completely up and down. Very easy to see. That was also a reason to mount it where I did. Plus I have it on auto shade where it determines the amount of light available and adjusts itself to be viewable.
