Default My dumb coilover is screwed up, advise?

Yep, I just fractured my thumb and sprained my wrist, only to then find out my front passenger side coilover's locking arm is broken. Crap. The previous owner put these cheap ground control coilovers (not real coilovers, just the sleeve-over type over stock struts), and I wanted to replace them eventually w/ real coilovers or at least a strong strut/spring combo.

Looks like they need replacing now though. I can't adjust my suspension, cuz only 3 sides will move. The car is a little lopsided as it is (either previous owner didn't install correctly, or the coiliovers are poorly made and sliding down the threaded sleeve themselves).

I want about a 0.8-1.0" drop, not much more, and wanted to hear how everyone else likes their coilovers or strut/springs combo. I'm looking at a set of Mugen Low-Downs. I'd like a set of Teins, but the only ones I can afford drop too low. I don't know the specs on the mugens.

Here are some other options I'm looking at:

- dropzone strut/coilovers - I dont know much anout them, but Modified mag gave them good reviews, and said they're great for the value. Anyone have any experiece w/ them?

- tokico illuminas (whites) w/ eibach springs - it's got the good name, and it's adjustible, so yeah. Does the adjustability adjust spring rate or height or what?

I seriously need help here, I have a hard time w/ understanding suspension parts, but need something firm that isn't a cheap piece of crap. I'm also on a budget. Can't afford anything over $800, really. And no cheap ebay sleeve-overs. That's what I already have. I need something quality. I don't feel good auto-xing on my crappy ground controls. Thanks.

Look into omni coilovers, for the money they seem to be the best on the market right now.

lol....ground controls and cheap...?????? no ground controls are accually some reallly good sleeve type coil-over couple with a good shock are just as good as many of the full coil-over companies out there...and the problem with the the perch is prolly due to a adjustment error..they prolly did tighten the adjuster.

and yea omnis are a good complete coil-over for the money

Ground controls are really nice, they use eibach springs, and are very high quality. I would guess they are messed up due to the previous owner.

If you are going with a full coil over set up I would look at the ground controls again, Omni is very nice. Tien are supposed to be great if you have the $$$$'s. Also Eibach will be comming out with a full set up some time this year.

Everybody agrees here, so I think I'ma definately look into it.

And the reason I'm opposed to replacing the ground controls is that I'm not the only person who's had trouble w/ these. Yeah, it could be due to the previous owner, but some of my friends have had problems w/ gc's. But yeah, who knows I guess. Could've been tightened improperly.
