Would softer ride affect proformance?!
I don't know about affecting your proformance, but a softer ride (likely through softer spring rates) might affect performance. If the rear spring rate is lowered enough, you might not get as much traction when you launch.
I believe the stiffer the ride is the better turning and for the straight line. For the straightaway, you want traction so your springs should be stiff from what I heard. When turning or auto-crossing you really have to "tune" the spring rates to see which combination of F/R spring rates will work best.
Hope this helps.

to further the topic, im considering tein ss vs. omni street setups. From what i've read the omni are stiffer than the teins even and at the stiffest setting. therefore the omni WILL preform better at turns but would it preform better at straight lines as well?!
It all depends on the dampeners. Soft springs with aggressive dampeners (I.e. Koni SSPS or something similair) and large swaybars can get you better performance. Its all about balance.
