Default Arghh... im burnin too much oil!

I had an oil change abuot 2 weeks ago.. filled her up.. today i look at my dipstick and it reads nothing?? so i was like wtf... so i put in a bottle of castrol synthethic that they gave me extra from the oil change and its now @ the 1 dot line.

I had my wife sit in the car while it is in neutral and rev it to 7000grand.. lots of white/bluish smoke (I thuink it was bluish anyway...)

Here is a pic of my exhaust.. it has alot of black carbon on it all the time.. THIS is after a carwash mind you!!

This car is 2001, i still have warranty for 1 more year/100,000km .. (i onlyu have 86,000kms) so im taking her in this Monday,. i called them and they said they will do tests/check it out.. what exactly are they going to be looking for? and how will they fix it?? rebuild the damn motor?

argh this sucks.

here is a pic..

It's a common problem. How many miles on the car?

86,000km is like a bit over 50,000 miles i think.

always remember to wait at least 5 min after shutting the car off to verify oil levels.

Got off the phone with the previous owner.. he was kinda in shock about smell/burning oil... never had anything like that.. but uh.. i think i just beat on it too much ... anyway, im still gonna get it checked @ acura to make sure everything is a-ok.

Exhaust is high off the ground and hanging good.. its the cameras view that makes it look weird.

If you burn more oil then me I'll be shocked.

1 qt = One tank of gas at cruising speed.
1 qt = per track session
1 gt = per night if I beat on it in the streets.

I almost don't have to change the oil, it's always clean

All ITRs in Canada are CW with the exception of 2000 (even 99 ) when they were offered in mostly PY.

As for burning oil... It sounds like you were surprised it burned oil and that you suspect it only started after the oil change? Where was this oil change done... were you physically there when they were doing it? (atleast on the premises)... if you left your R alone with some quicky lube or even the stealership, you may be in for some bad news...

Burning oil is almost like a "characteristic" of the B series engine (although some may beg to differ)... but I'm not sure blue exhaust is... for warranty service... it is going to be a hard sell, there are numerous horror stories about the "oil burning" warranty claims...

burning oil is usually three possibilities. valve seals head gasket or rings mostly and my guess is rings if it blows that smoke all the time. valve seals normally a puff on start up.

Burning oil usually wont leave residue like that on a bumper. From my experience, only unburnt fuel does that. mods?

I think your somewhat correct.

Since I have been tuned and burning less gas (smell is less too) I don't see as much black soot on the bumper.

But my muffler also sticks out pretty far, so I guess that helps too

Yes,that does help. But id be willing to bet money, those stains arent left by oil burning.

Thats not to say its not burning oil. But taking a picture of the rear bumper isnt a good way to gauge/show how much its burning.

If the owner of that car took 30 mins I bet that he could get all the black marks off that bumper and have it shinning again.

soap/water
clay
cleaner wax- X2

99... but yes, we never had black R's in Canada, and PY is rather rare as it was offered only in 2000.

Why ask the mods? They don't know crap. ( I can feel someone's finger over the BAN button)

No way, when I cracked a ringland my bumper looked like ****. It leaves a grimy brown soot that won't wash off.

Of course, I did an entire HPDE and drove 800+ miles home with compression right about 65 psi in my #3 cyl.

I didn't get the Jasma catback, otherwise it would have been a clean and safety.

I didnt mean mods as in moderators, i meant mods as in modifications done to his car that might make it run rich.

When you cracked a ringland in cyl. #3, im sure your combustion process was still a-ok in that cylinder and none of your unburnt fuel was going out your exhaust staining your bumper...

What exactly does a lack of compression due to the compression and power strokes, Chris F?
