can't start car. starter is good and clicking, shorting out somewhere. where do i test??
just put my car together after a rebuild and replaced my starter cuz it was old and sucked. after a couple of trips with the car i stalled it and now i can't get it to start by the ignition (push starting does work) i tested the starter and it works checked the power cable and the other wire is on tight. so i am pretty sure there is a short somewhere i just don't know where to start. thanx in advance
does it turn over? or just click?
if it just clicks your starter contacts could be bad... or bad connection

yea it just clicks, the first time it will click a few times then if i try again only once. i checked the fat cable and it looks good then the small one and traced it to the fire wall all that looks good no crimps or cuts or anything. and i have put 2 different starters on that both work and no difference. also it has a brand new battery.
were either of the starters brand new??? sounds like the contacts to me. anyone else?
It could be the solenoid on the starter, they dont always check those at the autostores

uh its not the starter i don't think i used to diff. ones. Alternator??? please explain. could it be grounding out or something?
this is the exact same thing that happened to me when i had my eclipse. it could be your ecu. my car would just click not start over at all just give me the clicking noise so i had a mechanic look over my ecu found a bad reading changed it then it worked fine again

It only runs on jump right? Maybe not enough power on batt. Battery is charge by alt. Also check the socket connecting to alt.
