Default helping a friend purchase a 97+ prelude, good price to pay....

i know my integra stuff, but no to solid on the lude stuff. Here is the situation: best friend loves my car but doesn't wanna waste my flavor. I recomended a lude. I originally wanted one but at the time couldnt afford the latest style. Whats some things to look for/watch out for when shopping for a 97+? more specifically a 97 or a 98 base model with the 5sp.

--whats a good price to pay for one with around 50K on the clock?

--How much to the dealers usually mark up on these cars and what will the actually take for them?

TIA

Make sure it doesn't have any mods, cause you don't want a car that has already been raged on. You don't know what all its been through..Suggest buying a stock one with the lowest mileage possible...Look to spend around maybe a little over $10,000 sometimes you may find them cheaper...And if you go through the dealership, right before you buy it, ask them to see the invoice on the car and then tell them you're pay like $500 more than the price...The invoice is what tells you how much they paid for it..

you can ask to see the invoice? I had no idea they actually had to present that at all. Also, 10 grand for a 97???? wow, cheapest we have found has been 15, they will actually go that low??

any dealer should sell you one at invoice. i went to the local honda dealer where i live and they wanted to sell me one $500 below invoice, but they had a lot of optional equipment (spoiler, fabric crap, and moonroof visor) that brought it back to over invoice. they wanted $400/mo so i was like NO WAY and drove my integra off the lot!

i used to sell used cars there about a 2000- 3000 mark up from the listed price, but it all depends on how much work was done to the car,. get a car fax report and REAL dependable delaer will give you a car fax report, plus go to www. carmax.com and compare what you find to some of there prices.,

Its just something they have to do...If your friend really wants one, he should do that whenever he goes and looks.....Also, did you ever check http://www.autotrader.com to see if theres a car near you for a cheap price?
