EG hatch rear fender damage / bondo need some suggestions

^^ The yellow area is the part thats messed up.
My hatch is in good condition besides the rear fenders. Not sure what happened but both of them have been repaired with bondo and they did a horrible job.
I am thinking about getting some bondo and smooth them out so they dont look retarded. I dont care that the bumper is shaved but the fenders look terrible. I know how to work with fiberglass and sand from fixing surfboards so I think I can smooth them out.
Another thing I was wondering is if they sell wide body rear fender kits like the ones they put on VWs that just attach around the fender. They would cover up the part that looks bad.
I really dont have money to get this professionally fixed this car is my daily driver / clean beater. I just want to make it look pretty good any suggestions?
You got plenty of options...
Bondo is probaly your best bet, the least expensive way to go.
The only down side I can see is, if you bondo its really hard to shape your rear wheel quater panel line. But with a little time and a lot of elbow grease nothing is impossible.
Also most body shops will tell you, you will probaly have to paint the whole quater panel to make it actually match.
Well good luck with the project.. Here's how mine turned out...
