Steps for painting.
I recently posted a thread about " Prep/Noprep for maaco paintjob " But i went over there and they wanted 420 for a paint job!!!. In my mind that's rediculous regarding the quality of how it will fade off within a month or 1-3 years. Anyways.. since i have an extra hood that i'm not using. I was thinking of praticing on it before i try it out. What are the steps before painting?
1. Primer
2. Sand Primer 400 Grit with water.. " wet Sand "
3. Clean it off very good leaving no dust
4. Put on your base coat paint. " the color u want to use "
5. Let it dry... Clean up any dust if left for days..
6. Put clear coat over base coat ...
Done. Are those the steps? Did i miss any? Given the fact that it's preped with the windows all taped up already.
Oh yea.. for the clear coat ... what would i use if my base coat is championship white?

From: I told you to wait in the truck in Texas, United States
sand your paint with 320 grit dry
prime the surface
if you dont have any filler then dont bother priming all the surface, you can get away with just sanding your paint
If you primer the car then wetsand with 600 wet
apply your basecoat, then clear it asap.....dont bother colour sanding, your clear will bury any imperfections and dust
if you want a mirror like surface then wetsand your clear
